1. Who we are and when these terms apply
Garage Knights is an appointment-only automotive detailing, protection and installation business in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. These terms cover our website, quote requests and services, including detailing, paint correction, ceramic coatings, paint protection film (PPF), window tinting, windshield protection, vehicle and fleet wraps, styling and security installations.
Before booking, we confirm the scope, price and applicable booking terms in writing. A written service agreement may add job-specific details or provide more favourable terms. Mandatory consumer rights always take priority. Submitting a quote request does not book an appointment, authorize work or commit you to a purchase.
2. Quotes, inspection and authorization
Quote requests are free. Website prices and service descriptions are general guides; your written quote identifies the selected products, coverage, preparation, labour and applicable taxes. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Unless stated otherwise in the quote, taxes are additional.
Vehicle size, condition, previous repairs, existing films and the requested finish affect the work required. Where a preliminary quote needs inspection, we make that clear. We confirm any revised price and obtain your approval before starting. We do not perform extra chargeable work without your authorization and we respect any agreed maximum price and applicable legal limits on estimates.
A quote is valid for the period stated in it. An automated acknowledgment from our Detailgent quote form confirms receipt of your request, rather than acceptance of a booking or a final price.
3. Bookings, deposits and payment
A booking is confirmed when we agree on the appointment and you pay any required deposit. For ceramic coating, film, wrap and installation bookings, our standard deposit is 20% of the accepted service price before tax, unless we agree otherwise in writing. Any deposit for another service is disclosed before you book. Every deposit is credited toward the final invoice.
Custom artwork, printed graphics or special-order products may require a different advance payment. We explain the amount and any cancellation costs and obtain your written approval before ordering materials or beginning design work.
The remaining balance is due when the agreed work is completed and before vehicle collection, unless a written account or fleet agreement provides otherwise. We provide an itemized invoice. No storage, late-payment or other additional fee applies unless it has been disclosed and agreed in advance and is permitted by law.
4. Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds
- At least 48 hours before the appointment: you may reschedule without a booking penalty or cancel for a deposit refund, less approved, documented custom design or special-order costs that we cannot reasonably recover.
- Less than 48 hours before the appointment, or a no-show: we may deduct reasonable, documented costs for the reserved time and preparation, up to the deposit paid. We consider any time we can rebook and costs we recover. We do not charge twice for the same loss and refund any unused balance.
- If we cancel before work begins: you may choose a new appointment or a full refund of your deposit and any advance payment for work not supplied.
Please contact us as soon as plans change. We consider emergencies individually. Arriving late may require a revised completion time or rescheduling; we discuss the options with you.
For cancellations after authorized work has begun, we explain the completed work and approved costs, and refund any unearned balance, subject to your legal rights. We aim to issue agreed refunds within 10 business days; your payment provider may need additional processing time. Completed-service concerns are assessed under the warranty and customer-rights provisions below, rather than a blanket no-refund rule. Statutory cancellation and refund rights override this policy.
5. Vehicle condition and access
You must own the vehicle or have authority to approve the work. Tell us about repainted panels, body repairs, corrosion, failing clear coat, existing coatings or films, leaks, electrical faults, modifications and any other condition that may affect the service. Remove valuables and personal items before drop-off and tell us about anything that needs special handling.
We may document the vehicle condition and discuss existing damage before work. If we discover an unsafe condition, contamination requiring specialist treatment or a surface unsuitable for installation, we may pause the work and agree on the next steps with you. A previously hidden defect does not become a defect caused by our service merely because it becomes visible during cleaning or preparation.
You authorize vehicle movement within the studio as needed for the agreed work. Any road test or off-site movement requires separate authorization. We remain responsible for exercising reasonable care while your vehicle is with us.
6. What each service can and cannot do
- Detailing and paint correction: results depend on surface condition and safe treatment limits. Deep scratches, permanent stains, etching and odours may remain. Polishing removes a limited amount of clear coat; we prioritize safe paint thickness over removing every defect.
- Ceramic coatings: coatings improve gloss, cleaning and resistance to environmental contamination. They do not make paint scratch-proof or replace impact protection. Durability depends on the product, exposure and maintenance.
- PPF, window tint and windshield film: films reduce particular risks and do not guarantee against all chips, scratches, glass breakage or other damage. Coverage, seams, edges and expected curing effects are discussed for the selected installation.
- Wraps and fleet graphics: adhesion and removal depend on the underlying paint. Repainted, damaged or deteriorated surfaces have a higher risk of paint lifting or residue during removal. We discuss identified risks before proceeding. Colour samples and screen proofs may differ from the finished material.
- Security and styling installations: compatibility and fitment are checked for the vehicle and product. Security devices reduce theft risk but do not guarantee prevention, recovery or insurance savings. Follow the operating instructions and confirm insurer requirements directly with your insurer.
We discuss material risks and obtain your approval before the relevant work. These explanations do not excuse negligent work or remove rights you have by law.
7. Road-use requirements and artwork approval
Tint, windshield film and styling choices must be suitable for the vehicle and its intended use. We discuss relevant Ontario visibility and road-use requirements and may decline unsafe or unlawful requests. If you use or register the vehicle elsewhere, tell us before installation so local requirements can be considered.
For custom graphics, you must have permission to use the supplied logos, images and text. We request approval of the design, spelling, dimensions and placement before production. Changes requested after approval may add cost or time, which we confirm before proceeding. We remain responsible for errors in our work.
8. Completion, collection and aftercare
Completion dates are estimates unless we expressly agree otherwise. Preparation, product availability, curing or unexpected vehicle conditions may affect timing. We tell you about material delays and agree on any change to the work.
At collection, we invite you to inspect the vehicle and raise concerns. Follow the product-specific care instructions we provide, including curing, washing, window operation and inspection requirements. Avoid picking at film edges or attempting repairs before discussing a concern with us. Collection or payment does not waive a claim for a hidden defect or your statutory rights.
9. Workmanship and manufacturer warranties
We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty from completion for our coating applications and film, wrap, security and styling installations. It covers defects caused by our application or installation, such as adhesion failure from improper preparation or an installation fault. For a covered defect, we repair or reperform the affected work, including necessary replacement materials, at no charge.
This additional warranty does not cover damage caused by collisions, stone impacts, vandalism, normal wear, unsuitable cleaning, failure to follow reasonable care instructions, third-party alterations or pre-existing surface defects. An exclusion applies only to the extent that it caused the issue. It does not exclude a defect in our workmanship.
Manufacturer warranties are separate and depend on the exact product, registration and written coverage. We provide available warranty information and help with eligible claims. A stated product lifespan is an expectation rather than an additional warranty promise. Detailing and paint correction are assessed against the agreed scope and reasonable quality of service; they do not carry a promise that the vehicle will remain clean or defect-free for a fixed period.
Contact us promptly with your invoice or booking details, a description and, where helpful, photographs. We arrange a reasonable inspection and explain the proposed remedy. Asking you to report promptly does not create an arbitrary deadline that removes your legal rights. Statutory warranties and remedies continue to apply even where this additional warranty has ended.
10. Email and text messages
We use the contact details you provide to respond to your request and manage agreed services. If you select the optional quote-text consent, Garage Knights may text you about your quote and related appointment or service updates. Marketing emails and texts use the separate optional marketing consent. Consent to texts or marketing is not a condition of purchasing a service.
Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts. For help, contact info@garageknights.com or +1 (343) 503-0921. 11. Website use
Please provide accurate information and use the website lawfully. Do not submit fraudulent requests, attempt unauthorized access or interfere with the site or quote service. Website content belongs to Garage Knights or its licensors; you may use it for personal reference but need permission for commercial reproduction.
We aim to keep information accurate and the quote service available. If a technical error affects a request or a price, we explain and resolve it before confirming a booking. External sites and services have their own terms and privacy practices.
12. Customer rights and resolving concerns
We are responsible for providing the agreed services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, excuses our negligence, or limits mandatory consumer warranties, cancellation rights or other remedies. We do not require you to waive access to a court or accept mandatory arbitration.
Please contact us first so we can investigate and propose a fair resolution. These terms are governed by Ontario law and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, subject to any mandatory protection available to you under applicable law.
13. Changes and contact
We may update these terms and change the date shown above. Updated service terms apply to new bookings; they do not retroactively change an existing agreement without your agreement or a legal requirement.
